A strong and supple core helps keep our bodies capable and coordinated. Many of us know this, but how do we achieve it? You begin by fully understanding how the breath and pelvic floor integrate into the core! Once you do, you’ll be able to …. tap into your deep stability system, optimize your breathing pattern, maximize your function, properly stabilize your spine and pelvis, support your organs, protect your nervous system, improve your posture, and prevent/recover from injury with increase ease.
Amanda Ramirez is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and one of SoHo's very own yoga instructors. In her 2-part BREATH, CORE, AND PELVIC FLOOR CONNECTION workshop you will:
1) Gain an in depth understanding of how to analyze your ribs, spine, and pelvis for proper alignment
2) Be given the tools to mobilize, stabilize, stretch and strengthen your way to a more capable core
THE KEY TO A MORE CAPABLE AND CONNECTED CORE
First, we’ll massage, mobilize and stretch our tissues to promote softness and suppleness! We’ll use a variety of tools (balls, bands, our hands, and foam rollers) to target trigger points + enjoy the benefits of self-massage. Self-massage is a powerful age-old ritual used to promote relaxation, break up muscular tension, eliminate pain, prevent injury, increase circulation, and enhance health.
Next, we’ll learn how to activate, stabilize and strengthen our breath, core, and pelvic floor connection. Learning the proper alignment will be key to getting the right muscles to work. After your form is in place, we’ll go over ideal breathing and muscle activation patterns. Once you have this down, you take the work home and continue building strength and endurance from there.
DAY 1 will be how the lower body/hips/legs influence the connection. DAY 2 will be how the upper body/shoulders/arms influence the connection. You can join us for one day, or both! DISCOUNTS FOR THE DEDICATED!
I look forward to guiding you! Along the way we’ll refine your technique, break down what's happening anatomically, and tie in a bit of yogic philosophy!
